The owner and publisher of the Atlanta Jewish Times found himself apologizing Friday for suggesting that Israeli security forces in the U.S. “take out” President Barack Obama, who he said has been deemed unfriendly to the Jewish state.

In a Jan. 13 opinion piece, Andrew Adler offered three possible options to ensure Israel’s security in the Middle East: a strike against the terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah, an attack against Iran, and having Israel’s U.S.-based Mossad agents assassinate Obama.

Adler said “a hit” against the president would “preserve Israel’s existence.” He said Vice President Joe Biden would then be able “to take his place, and forcefully dictate that the United States’ policy includes its helping the Jewish state obliterate its enemies.”

The Obama administration and Israeli government have been at odds over how to respond to Iran’s disputed nuclear program, which is seen as a threat to the Jewish state.

A Secret Service spokesman wouldn’t confirm that an investigation of Adler was under way but he told ABC News the publisher could be interviewed. “We are aware of this matter, and we will make all appropriate, investigative follow-up in regard to this matter,” Max Milien told the news organization.

In his column, Adler speculated Israel was already considering such an attack on Obama.

Adler rhetorically asked, “How far would you go to save a nation comprised of seven million lives … Jews, Christians and Arabs alike? You have got to believe, like I do, that all options are on the table.”

Adler is acknowledging that he has received a barrage of negative reaction to his comments and has apologized.

“I very much regret it; I wish I hadn’t made reference to it at all,” Adler told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency news service.

In an interview with, Adler denied that he was advocating an assassination attempt against Obama.

“Of course not,” he told the website. He also said he didn’t believe Israel was considering one nor should it be considered as an option. Adler said he plans publish an apology.

The chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Army Gen. Martin Dempsey, was in Israel on Friday and he was expected to urge the country not to rush to attack Iran at a time when the U.S. is trying to rally additional global support to pressure Tehran through sanctions to dial back its nuclear program. Dempsey met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has been warning about the dangers of the Iranian nuclear program for more than a decade.

The Atlanta Jewish Times is a weekly community newspaper that Adler acquired in 2009. Since the uproar, he told ABC, a few rabbis have told him, “You’re a meshugenah,” Yiddish for “nut.”

Let’s not whitewash what he actually wrote.

“Three, give the go-ahead for US based Massad agaents to take out a president deemed unfriendly to Israel in order for the current vice president to take his place, and forcefully dictate that the United States’ policy includes its helping the Jewish stae obliterate its enemies.

Yes, you read “three” correctly. Order a hit on a president in order to preserve Israel’s existence. Think about it. If I have thought of this Tom Clancy-type scenario, don’t you think that this almst unfathomable idea has been discussed in Israel’s most inner circle?

Another way of putting “three” into perspective goes something like this: How far would you go to save a nation comprised of seven million lives… Jews, Christians and Arabs alike?

You have got to believe, like I do, that all options are on the table.

With this in mind, I again ask you. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, what would you do? ”

    1. GunnerGA says:

Lets also not whitewash what preceded what you selected quoted… he was envisioning a scenario in 2017. While it was a pig-headded thing to write and a poorly written piece to begin with, he was NOT calling for Obama’s assassination nor for Israel to consider this. Obama would not even be President in 2017.

I do agree that every nation considers EVERY scenario when trying to preserve itself. The US pointing nuclear missiles at Moscow during the height of the cold war was essentially the same thing…. only closer to reality than hypothetical.

      1. GunnerGA says:

All that being said, such an article should never have been written.

      2. Phil says:

You might want to read the original article a little more carefully; it was talking about options that the Israeli PM could (should?) be considering NOW (first strike, destroy Iran nuclear capability, install a favorable government in a foreign power by force), to a possible threat five years in the future.

The publisher must resign immediately. He is an idiot. All advertisers must withdrawal the use of their outlets. .

    1. GunnerGA says:

I am a proud advertiser of the Atlanta Jewish Times. And while I thought the article was idiotic and should never have been written, It isn’t the first time someone has exercised the First Amendment rights and said stupid things inside the pages of the AJT. I will NOT be withdrawing my advertising given Adler’s resignation. I am loyal to my friends and do not abandon them at the first sign of trouble or when they do something I oppose.

        typical jewish behavoir

      2. reader100 says:

Like commit a crime against your country – advocating assassination – and plotting violence to overstep the needs of others. Why don’t you go be loyal to your friends…in the middle east. Don’t go away mad…just go…away….

  3. David Whittington says:

Andrew Adler is a f**king clown. Jews are suppoed to be smart. Andrew Adler is stupid. There would be NO Israel today if it weren’t for the USA establishing and protecting the f**king patch of sand known as Israel in the desert for 64 years, and now idiot Andrew Adler advocates KILLING the President of the USA. Andrew Adler needs to get the f**k OUT of Georgia and leave the USA,

  4. GBW says:

Why do people apologize for something they clearly felt when they said it? I don’t think he is at all sorry for what he said. He’s sorry because of the reaction he’s receiving from the public.

    1. Nicole says:

Because thats treason! Ask yourself if a black or anyobne for that matter could maevsuch horrific statements about any of our past presidents? I can answer for you. Heck no!!!!!

    2. GunnerGA says:

It is not what he was thinking. It was the poor judgement he used in expressing it publicly as an editor and NOT as a book writer like Tom Clancy whom he said he was trying to channel in his piece. We know our CIA has assassination plans for probably every world leader and/or business leader… that is what they do among other things. Plan for worst case scenarios. What they do not do, however, is actually speak about of make for public consumption what they were thinking.

  5. GunnerGA says:

While what Adler wrote is clearly protected speech, your comment comes much closer to being considered a threat.

    1. Mike says:

Protected speech does NOT cover advocating killing someone now matter how much you jews wish it did.

  6. Carol Horwitz says:

This man could not possibly be Jewish. Everything he said is anathma to Jewish Law. What a sick, sorry excuse for a human being. As a Jewish grandmother from Brooklyn, NY, I am embarassed by his words and his racist sick behavior. His words constitute a “hate crime” and he should be prosecuted. I hope he is arrested by the secret serice and place on trial right away. This man is the epitome of anti-cemitism.

  7. cyrus says:

what a sick jew. he should be deported to somalia

  8. Tyler Elliott says:

It really shows that “Freedom of Speech” does not truly exist. The 1st Amendment is supposed to mean a person can say or write Anything and whether or not you agree with it, he/she has the right to express those thoughts. The barometer is not ‘some’ who may be offended, or even ‘one’. And when the people naively accept any infringement on those civil liberties as justified, it means infringing Any open dialogue becomes acceptable.

  9. rowley says:

Why did Media condone the same kind of rhetoric about Bush while he was in WH and after?

  10. Jersey Dave says:

Serious question – If a foreign nation sends agents and kills a president and is caught out, and the president’s friend and VP takes office, how do you think said friend and VP would treat that nation? The writer of this needs to think it over.

  11. Hoodrat says:

This level of contempt for Obama is not a newsflash in the jewish community. The majority of jewish people in AMerica are whte and they reflect the same negative and disregard for Black Americans at end of the day they are WHITE.

What is revealing is the depth and scope of this “negrophobia” in jewish circles is the level of denial, avoidance, deflection. The media has a number of jewish pundits who also exhibit this contempt not only for Obama but Black America.

This ugly saga is a wake up call for Black America people who were once our allies are nor our adversaries

Why come this animal is not locked up. He should be water bored to find out just where the sleeper cells are. Here is an example of white and jewish negative behavior warranting a double standard. The Miami 7 was locked up even thought they were set up by the FBI. They were black. and non jewish.
