ATLANTA (WAOK)-America commemorates the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King today. While there will be services across America the debate continues whether today should be a day off or a day “on” where people can perform community service acts in the name of Dr. King.

WAOK and V-103 will hold voter registration rallies today while we bring you first hand reports from the King Center on Auburn Avenue. WAOK’s Lorraine Jacques White and V-103’s Frank Ski will broadcast live from Auburn Avenue from 8 to 10 am. WAOK will then present the King Commemorative service uninterrupted from the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church from 10 am until its conclusion.

As we celebrate the day marking the birthday of the man known as the drum major for peace there is now a report that the much heralded, much visited (over 2 million people so far) King monument in Washington, D.C. will undergo some changes.
