Man Arrested For Bringing Gun To Courthouse

Atlanta- Fulton County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man for bringing a loaded gun to the Fulton County Courthouse at 8:40 a.m. today.  29-year-old Preston Tyler Pike of Smyrna, Georgia told deputies that he forgot a Glock 19 9mm was in his backpack when he entered the Justice Center Complex on 185 Central Avenue. As part of security protocol at the facility, Mr. Pike was instructed to place his bag in a bin for inspection.  The screening machine displayed an image of the handgun inside the bag.  A security specialist notified the deputy on duty who immediately took possession of the backpack containing the gun.  Mr. Pike was questioned and taken into custody.  Further examination of the weapon revealed the Glock was fully loaded with one bullet in the chamber.  An additional magazine was also in the backpack.  Mr. Pike indicated that he was coming to court to support a friend and had forgotten the weapon was inside the bag. Preston Tyler Pike will be transported to the Fulton County Jail where he will be booked for the following charges:

1.  Carrying a Concealed Weapon

2.  Carrying a Weapon to a Public Gathering
