It almost happened again… But an unlikely hero stepped up to prevent another overtime debacle.
His name… Josh Smith!
On a night that saw Tracy McGrady on the bench nursing a bruised knee and Joe Johnson seemed tired and unable to find his shot, Smith stepped right in and scored a team high 23 points and also grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Atlanta to a 102-96 overtime victory versus the Charlotte Bobcats.
Friday night’s game proved what Charles Barkley was saying during the entire broadcast of the Heat-Hawks game Thursday night.
The Hawks don’t have anyone who on a nightly basis can put the team on their back on guide them to a win.
Joe Johnson the Hawks self-appointed superstar only managed to provide the Hawks with 14 points and 6 assists versus a Charlotte team that prior to last night’s game were losers of four-of-five games, proving once again that he’s worth every bit of that laughable $124 million dollar deal.
Believe or not there has been one consistent bright spot for the Hawks. Marvin Williams looks as if he’s finally coming into his own last night he contributed 15 points and nine rebounds.
Tonight the hometown Hawks host the reigning MVP Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls at the Highlight Factory, tipoff is scheduled for 7pm.
