The last time we saw the Atlanta Hawks they were 93-73 game 6 losers in the 2nd round of the playoffs. If last night’s preseason opener versus the Charlotte Bobcats is any indication as to what we can expect from the Hawks, I’m not buying.
In what was nearly unbearable to watch as the Hawks have never ran a set play and it looked as if it was just a pick-up game.
On a night that saw Josh Smith and Al Horford each score 11 points, it was also a night that saw a far too familiar sight…
Joe Johnson not imposing his will on opponents.
I completely understand that this was the very first preseason game and some players could possibly be a little rusty but I also know that Atlanta was playing one of the worst teams in the league.
In 21 minutes Atlanta’s All-Star SG Johnson was 3-of-7 for 6 points.
The old-stars Tracey McGrady and Jerry Stackhouse combined for 2 points.
In his first NBA game rookie Kemba Walker scored a game-high 18 points in the Bobcats 79-77 win over the Hawks.
The same two teams close out the preseason Thursday at Philips Arena.
