DECATUR, Ga. (CBS Atlanta) – Ho, ho, there goes the mistletoe.
A Decatur man was arrested after he was spotted shooting down mistletoe from trees with a shotgun near a local mall. William Robinson, 66, was charged Sunday with illegally discharging a weapon on the property of others and reckless conduct after he was found firing rounds at the trees near North DeKalb Mall.
On Sunday, DeKalb County police were tipped off that a man was firing off firearms in no particular direction around a local Applebee’s. The complainant told police that he observed Robinson shooting at the trees in the woods until the complainant honked his horn at Robinson. He would then get into his vehicle and drive off, only to be followed by the complainant.
When police caught up with Robinson, he explained that he was shooting off the mistletoe so he could decorate his home for Christmas.
“He advised he does this every year but never in the mall parking lot,” the report stated. “The suspect was surprised he was getting arrested.”
