ESPN reported Sunday that the wife of former Syracuse assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine admitted she had concerns her husband had molested a boy in their home. According to ESPN, Laurie Fine expressed her concerns with accuser Bobby Davis during a legally recorded phone call in October 2002. During the call, Laurie said, quote, “I know everything that went on.” Laurie also said Bernie, quote, “had issues,” was in denial, and needed male companionship that she couldn’t give him.
Davis, who says he was molested by Bernie for more than 12 years, also said he had a sexual relationship with Laurie. According to Davis, the relationship with Laurie occurred when he a senior in high school and 18-years old. Davis is now 39. Fine was fired by Syracuse on Sunday. His dismissal came after a third person accused him of sexually abusing him as a child. The 65-year-old Fine has denied all of the allegations.
