DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. (CBS Atlanta) – A Douglasville man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for traveling to Florida with his two children to meet what he thought was a 13-year-old girl for sex.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office charged Gregory Paul Lawrence with traveling to meet a minor for sexual activity and attempted lewd or lascivious battery.
Lawrence, 33, was using the screen name “i_luv_yung_girls” in online chat forums when he began talking to what he thought was a 13-year old girl.
According to reports obtained by CBS Atlanta, Lawrence sent explicit messages to an undercover officer, including instructions on how to engage in sexual acts, as well as nude photos of himself.
Lawrence’s plan was to drive the girl back to Georgia to live with him.
Lawrence admitted to police back in June that the reason he brought his kids with him was because he could not find a babysitter.
According to reports, the sentence was part of a plea deal.
This arrest has been part of a statewide operation in Florida. So far, 32 men have been arrested who thought they were going to have sex with minors.
