Congrats to Atlanta Braves closer Craig Kimbrel it was announced yesterday afternoon that he was selected as this year’s NL Rookie of the Year in a unanimous vote and Tampa Bay pitcher Jeremy Hellickson was selected in the American League.
Kimbrel recorded 46 saves on the season, a new major league record for saves by a rookie. The right hand closer received all 32 first-place votes by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.
Honorable Mention… Kimbrel’s teammate Braves’ 1st baseman Freddie Freeman came in second place.
