In the NFL, we are at the mid-point of the season.  Some teams have lived up to the status quo while others have surprised the league whether it positively or negatively.  Today we will take a look at the AFC and NFC East:

AFC East

4th Place Miami Dolphins, 0-7, 0-1 in the Division:

Pros:      Defensively still can rush the passer with Cameron Wake, Cons:              Inconsistent QB play with neither cracking 60% completion rate, lack of true running game, Final prediction:  They will finish 0-6 in the division and 2-14 overall.

3rd Place New York Jets, 4-3, 1-1 in the Division:

Pros:      Corner tandem is one of the best in the NFL, Cons:  Lack of pass rush, Mark Sanchez is still inconsistent, and running game is suspect, Final prediction:  They finish second in the division.

2nd Place New England Patriots, 5-2, 2-1 in the Division:

Pros:      Tom Brady’s precision passing and distribution to different receivers makes the offense formidable, Cons:  Lack of a vertical threat, suspect defensive backs, and overall young defense, Final prediction:  Tom Brady will be too much for the rest of the division to handle and they will win it going away.

1st Place Buffalo Bills, 5-2, 1-0 in the Division:

Pros:      Fred Jackson has been the all-purpose back that Chan Gailey’s offense demands in both the running and passing game.  Ryan Fitzpatrick has filled a void at QB since the retirement of Jim Kelly.  Team never gives up and fights to the final whistle, Cons:  Defensively, the Bills give up way too many points.  With the injury of Shawne Merriman there is not much pass rush on the team, Final prediction:  As much as I like this team, they succumb to the more talented Patriots and Jets, 3rd place.

NFC East

4th Place Washington Redskins, 3-4, 1-2 in the Division:

Pros:      Defense is solid behind Brian Orakpo, Rookie Ryan Kerrigan, and London Fletcher, Cons:  Cannot find consistent QB play, points are scarce offensively, Final prediction:  They land in the basement again, 4th place.

3rd Place Dallas Cowboys, 3-4, 1-1 in the Division:

Pros:      Talent in the passing game, Defense has thrived under Defensive Coordinator Rob Ryan, Cons:  Lack of a closer in the running game, no trusting of QB in clutch situations, corners are suspect, Final prediction:  They finish 3rd in the Division

2nd Place Philadelphia Eagles, 3-4, 2-1 in the Division:

Pros:      Can score from anywhere on the field, very versatile offense.  When Michael Vick is protected he has a firm grasp of the offense, LaSean McCoy is running wild, Cons:  Need Linebackers that can tackle, Offensive line must protect Vick or he will not last the rest of the season, consistent running game needs to be used, Final prediction:  They finish 2nd in the division.

1st Place New York Giants, 5-2, 1-1 in the Division:

Pros:      Running game is consistent, Eli Manning does what it takes to win, Pass rush is solid, Cons:  Eli Manning can throw you out of a game, the injury bug seems to strike often, Final prediction:  Solid team, solid coaching staff, battle tested squad….they win the NFC East Champs
