ATLANTA (AP) – Police say three Georgia State University students have been robbed on or near the downtown Atlanta campus since Sunday night.
One of the crimes happened at 11 p.m. Sunday in a parking deck, where a student said he parked one space away from a pickup truck occupied by four men. The student told police that three of them approached him, choked him, kicked him repeatedly and stole his backpack.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/uczOkc)that a female student told police that a teenage male snatched a cell phone from her along Kimball Way shortly after 6:30 p.m. Monday.
The third crime occurred around noon Wednesday near Piedmont and Auburn avenues, when a GSU student said two males ran up behind him, pushed him down and took money from his wallet.
Police say they are increasing patrols and surveillance in the area and caution students to be careful when talking on cell phones near campus and be aware of their surroundings at all times.
