In a move that no one saw coming…
St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa announced his retirement yesterday not even a week after winning the 2011 World Series.
LaRussa said there was no one factor that led to his decision.

After going 9-and-17 in 34 starts this season the Braves parted ways with veteran pitcher Derek Lowe trading him to the Cleveland Indians for minor league pitcher Chris Jones.
Meanwhile, the Braves picked up their club option on Eric Hinske and declined to pick up a club option on outfielder Nate McLouth.
