Atlanta’s New International Terminal Expected to Create 2,000 Jobs
ATLANTA (WAOK)-Officials say the new international terminal at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is expected to create 2,000 new jobs.
The figure includes some jobs at the airport as well as those in surrounding hotels and related or international businesses.
Named the Maynard Jackson International Terminal, the 1.2 million square foot facility will be known as Concourse F and connected to Concourse E. The new terminal is expected to increase the number of international gates to 40.
The $1.4 billion terminal, scheduled to open in the spring of 2010, could be one of the largest job generators in recent years for metro Atlanta, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
The new terminal, which officials say is ahead of schedule and under budget- will include 12 new gates, parking decks, stores, restaurants, lounges, shuttles and other services.
The project has already accounted for about 3,000 jobs during several years of planning and construction, officials reported.
