Cumming (WAOK/Patch)-Oct. 16, while patrolling the cell phone towers around Keith Bridge Road a deputy smelled burnt marijuana. The deputy determined the smell was coming from an old condemned house on Martin Road.
The deputy proceeded to walk down the path to the home when he heard a generator running and was greeted by a dog. Minutes later a man and woman left the house. After discussions with the two adults about the smell of marijuana, the 48-year-old man handed the deputy a container with marijuana and several marijuana “roaches” inside. He was then arrested.
The 53-year-old woman told the deputy that she thought they were allowed to be in the home and that nothing illegal was going on but there was a gun in the house. The deputy looked around the house to make sure no one else was inside and discovered in plain view, several large marijuana buds lying on the bed. He saw on the bedside table a pill bottle with white pills in it and marijuana leaves all throughout the bedroom along with drug related paraphernalia.
An investigator was called in and a search warrant was issued. The woman’s husband came home just in time to be arrested too. The following charges were issued; three felony counts of possession of marijuana, manufacturing of marijuana, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, and possession of drug related items and narcotic equipment.
