Stone Mountain Park Adds a Water Playground
ATLANTA (WAOK)-Stone Mountain Park announced Wednesday, plans to debut its latest attraction, Geyser Towers, a water playground that’s set to open during spring 2012.
Geyser Towers will be located adjacent to the Sky Hike attraction in the Crossroads area of the park. The building of this attraction is the second installation of its kind in the world and the only one in North America to integrate water features. Admission to both attractions will be included in the park’s daily and annual passes.
Geyser Towers will bring an all-new, must-do experience to Stone Mountain Park. The playground features multiple levels of suspended rope bridges and net tunnels connecting its guest to towering platforms that overlook a gushing geyser. With its sporadic eruptions and multiple offshoots of water, guest can play in the spray or stay high and dry.
Ideal for the whole family, Geyser Towers offers a generous amount of room for adults and the perfect amount of excitement for the kids. As an option for the smallest guests, toddlers can splash in a trickling creek while parents relax in the shade.
The water will be supplied by Stone Mountain Lake just as the park’s popular seasonal Snow Mountain attraction. The playground will use a closed loop system that borrows water from the lake instead of county water. The water will go through a treatment process making it similar to swimming pool water.
Geyser Towers is set to open March 31, the start of the Spring Break. The estimated project cost is just under $1 million.
