ATLANTA (WAOK)-The Atlanta Police Department says it has made a major dent in the persons who deface property in the city and surrounding areas by arresting a group of graffiti vandals. Police however, are hoping the public can help arrest more individuals. Arrest warrants have been issued for seven individuals responsible for more than 800 acts of graffiti vandalism throughout the city.

Officer Ari Bleifeld, who represents the enforcement arm of the Mayor’s Graffiti Task Force, spent several months tracking the graffiti vandals. Police say the warrants are the result of his efforts, with support from the task force and community.

“These arrest warrants show the APD’s commitment to enforcement of quality of life issues, such as graffiti vandalism,” said Chief George Turner. “Left unchecked, graffiti can bring down a community and give people the impression that its
residents simply don’t care.  Our pursuit of these lawbreakers is proof that the city of Atlanta does care.”
