For a guy that came to the City of Atlanta with so much hope and high expectations it now seems as if Falcons CB Dunta Robinson is more of a liability to the team than the defender that he was brought in to be.
Robinson’s most memorable plays for the Falcons aren’t interceptions returned for touchdowns or his defensive prowess; it’s for the illegal shots that he’s taken on two different Philadelphia Eagles wide receivers in back to back seasons.
As result the NFL has fined the Falcons cornerback $40,000 for Sunday’s hit on Philadelphia wide receiver Jeremy Maclin.
Robinson wasn’t suspended for the flagrant hit however there are those that think he should have been suspended for at least 2 games for repeated violations of the NFL’s player safety rules.
Unlike DeSean Jackson, Maclin wasn’t seriously injured and was able to return to the game.
League officials confirm that Robinson can appeal the fine.
