A photoshopped image showing Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick with a white face is drawing criticism directed at ESPN. The picture appears with a column entitled “What If Michael Vick Were White” in “ESPN The Magazine.”

The image was also posted on ESPN’s website then later replaced with a regular photo of Vick.

However, the controversial image reappeared at the top of the online article.

The column by cultural critic Toure is on how Vick’s race has shaped both the positive and negative aspects of his life.

In a Twitter post, Toure says he asked the editors not to use the “What If…” title and says he wasn’t consulted about the image choice.

He writes, quote, “Judge me on the story, not the art.”
