ATLANTA (WAOK/AP) – In her version of the song “Empire State of Mind,” Alicia Keys sings about seeing her name on a Broadway marquee.  She may be getting her wish soon – now that she is getting involved in the production of a Broadway show. Keys will have a hand in the project “Stick Fly” – work by Lydia R. Diamond about an affluent black family. Keys says the story is one everyone can relate to. The show has already made stops in Boston, Chicago and Washington D.C. and will begin performances at the Lyceum Theater in New York on November 18 before officially opening December 8.

Keys joins her “Empire State” sidekick Jay-Z and Will Smith sampling the world of Broadway. In 2009, Jay-Z, Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith joined the producing team of the musical “Fela!”
