The Golden State Warriors have hired former NBA player Mark Jackson as their new head coach, replacing Keith Smart. The 46-year-old Jackson has no coaching experience, but has been the lead analyst for ABC and ESPN’s NBA coverage in recent seasons.

He broke in with the New York Knicks and played 17 years for seven teams, making the playoffs 14 times.

Among Jackson’s coaches as a college and pro player were Hall of Famers Lou Carnesecca (kahr-nah-SEK’-uh), Lenny Wilkens, Jerry Sloan, Pat Riley and Larry Brown.
