Atlanta (WAOK)-The suspected “Grandma Bandit” met a violent death Friday morning after being shot multiple times at the end of a police chase on North Druid Hill Road. DeKalb County police said the woman was spotted in the drive-through at a Wendy’s on Piedmont Road driving a car that matched the description given by police earlier in the week. The woman, whose identity has not been released, matched the description of a woman wanted for several robberies at metro area pharmacies over the last two weeks. When police approached the Jeep Liberty, the woman took off and ended up in a police chase up I-85 that ended at N. Druid Hills Road. Police spokesperson Mekka Parish says she was involved in a minor traffic accident after exiting at North Druid Hills Road.
Police then say they heard a single gunshot and opened fire hitting the woman multiple times. More on the story in this report from the AJC
Since this story was originally posted we found out that the Grandma Bandit was actually a man.
