Police Make Arrest In MARTA Beating Case

 ATLANTA (WAOK)- Police have arrested three young men in connection with the MARTA train beating of two Delta Airline employees.

According to witness reports, a group of  over 20 teens entered a MARTA train on Palm Sunday and attacked two passengers. Passengers say they tried to get off the train when it reached the West End stop but the doors would not open. The teens continued beating the two Delta employees. One man reported being smashed in the face with a soda can.  The group managed to flee the scene before police arrived.

Authorities were able to obtain a surveillance video, that showed the suspects entering the train. Police used the video to capture three suspects. Currently police are holding  19 year old Jarquez Scott, 20 year old Zantavious Scott, and a 16 year old minor for their involvement. Police are still searching for at least two other suspects. 

MARTA says it will do everything to ensure the safety of its passengers.

    I understand agencies and departments are trying to watch the ‘bottom line’. I feel security is needed more now than ever. There’s a lot of frustration associated with the high unemployment rate. But you already knew this.
    I remember years ago when I rode the train more often, I saw a lot of police presence. This really impressed me, and there was a feeling of security. Of cource that was back then.
