ATLANTA(CBS Atlanta)- Former Atlanta Hawks star and Hall of Famer, Dominique Wilkins will not face charges following a fight last week at Philips Arena.
Police have charged 36-year-old Rashan Michel with attacking Wilkins.
“The Atlanta Police Department has no plans to pursue criminal charges against Mr. Wilkins, the decision to charge only Mr. Michel with simple battery was based on more than one eyewitness account that described him as the aggressor towards Mr. Wilkins,” said Atlanta Police spokesman Carlos Campos.
Appearing on The Frank and Wanda Morning Show on V-103(WVEE-Atlanta), Michel claimed that Wilkins a Hawks vice president and TV analyst assaulted him as he approached the former NBA Star in regards to nearly $13,000 that Michel says he’s owed for custom suits made for Wilkins.
Atlanta Hawks’ announcer Ryan Cameron stopped by Too Much Truth w/ Derrick Boazman on 1380 WAOK to express his disbelief of the assault but also said Michel is no stranger to physical altercations with professional athletes.
Wilkins and the Atlanta Hawks have declined to comment on the incident.
