Officer Kills Gwinnett Man, Family Suspicious

ATLANTA (WAOK) A Gwinnett County Officer has been placed on paid leave after he shot and killed a suspect Wednesday night. The incident happened outside of the JSD Apartments near Jimmy Carter Boulevard. According to reports, officers from the gang enforcement division noticed a group of young men involved in what appeared to be suspicious activity. The officers confronted the group asking for identification. Police say that 20-year-old Darryl Fuller pulled out a gun. Gwinnett Police Corporal Jake Smith says the officer responded by drawing his weapon and firing once.

The mother of the victim, Cassandra Williams  said that the story being told by police does not sound accurate. She said her son’s death was in vain because the shooting was unjustified.

The officer who fired his weapon, will remain on administrative leave while the investigation continues. Fuller leaves a fiancee and a 7 month old daughter.
