ATLANTA (AP) A biography on the life Malcolm X is being released, a few days after the death of its author. Noted historian Manning Marable died Friday at a New York hospital from complications related to pneumonia.  He was 60 years old.  Marable’s long-awaited biography has been ten years in the making. “Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention,” is expected to shift perceptions about the controversial civil rights activist and introduce new theories related to his 1965 assassination.  Marable founded the Institute for the Research in African-American Studies at Columbia University in 1993.  He also taught at Cornell, Fisk, Colgate and Ohio State universities and has more than 200 academic journal articles to his credit. Marable a double lung transplant last summer to relieve him of sarcoidosis, a lung condition from which he suffered for 25 years. His family is planning a public memorial on May 27th.
