Money that was supposed to help the less fortunate with electric bills will instead go to the extra fees.

The Fulton Atlanta Community Action Authority helps low-income Georgians pay their bills. According to Christy Ihrig the reason electric companies like Georgia Power are attaching fees to bills is to collect past due payments.

Residents have stated that Electric Companies should acknowledge that the application process for assistance can take up to two months, and reverse the fees. Georgia Power is estimated to receive $2 million in assistance money.
