Etta James’ husband has been given legal control of some of the singer’s savings in order to pay for her medical care. The singer who is best known for her hit “At Last” has been diagnosed with dementia and is also undergoing treatment for leukemia. Last week, a judge in Southern California ruled that James’ husband, Artis Mills may use $60,000 of the James’ savings to help care for her. That money should last until late next month, at which time Mills is expected to return to court to seek control of more than $1 million of James’ money. Mills is in a legal fight with James’ son Donto who claims his mother gave him power of attorney in 2008.
