Snow Brings Atlanta to a Stand Still
A rare view of Monday morning rush hour in Atlanta, Georgia around 6am. That’s I-85 looking toward downtown, covered with several inches of snow. This view would normally be filled with headlights and brake lights, even at that early hour, but on January 10, 2011, Atlanta woke up to white out conditions, 3-6 inches in metro and 6-8 inches up in the mountains.
The snow fall is being followed by sleet and freezing rain which should continue through Monday and into Tuesday. Conditions are not expected to be better by Tuesday, as the temperatures will remain cold and the falling precipitation will put a coating of ice on top of the fallen snow.
