80 % teens say they wish they could talk more openly with their parents about sex.
The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy released a new poll Tuesday, at the same time as a new federal report showing a drop in teen birth rates was published. The poll found that nearly half of respondents also say mom and dad have the most influence on their decisions about sex. The telephone survey of more than a thousand teens revealed that one-third believe that birth control doesn’t work and admitted they knew “little or nothing” about condoms.
The report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says teen birth rates dropped six-percent in 2009.
