Atlanta will be given a new option in buying low-cost airline tickets. Southwest Airlines is buying Airtran Airways for an estimated 1.4 billion dollars.
The services that Southwest will provide for Atlanta could bring in 2 million new customers and save customers more than 200 million dollars annually. The new airline, which remains nameless, will operate from more than 100 airports and looks to serve over 100 million customers. The overall price tag for the merger comes up to approximately 3.4 billion dollars which includes Air Tran’s debt. Southwest will pay about 670 million in available cash.
And remember what Southwest says “Bags Travel for FREE”!
