Officials taking part in a Washington summit on distracted driving believe it will require the cooperation of police, automakers, the technology industry and drivers themselves. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood says automakers are puttin technology in cars that allows drivers to update their Facebook page, surf the Internet “or do any number of other things instead of driving safely.”
