The price of stamps may be going up AGAIN!
A group opposed to a postal rate hike says it’s “another tax imposed on Americans at a time when the economy can least afford it.” David Samson of New York says he can’t remember the last time he has mailed a letter.
The Postal Service says it may to increase the price of a stamp by 2 cents to 46 cents. The hike proposal, which goes to the Postal Rate Commission, is part of a series of proposed price increases and money-saving plans to help the postal service deal with declining mail volume.
Tony Conway of the Affordable Mail Alliance says large and small businesses will suffer from the hike and more jobs will be lost. The alliance is a coalition of businesses, charities and other mailers opposed to the increase. The U.S. Postal Service says it lost over $3 billion last fiscal year despite the fact that over 40 thousand jobs were cut to save money.
