Don’t try it at home. July Fourth fireworks are best left to professionals, according to federal safety officials. Consumer Product Safety Commission Chairwoman Inez Tenenbaum says commercial fireworks are more powerful than the ones sold to the public, and have fuses that burn much faster. Even legal consumer fireworks pose dangers, according to Tenenbaum.
Officials also urge adults to closely supervise children with sparklers, because the burning chemicals and metal particles are extremely hot. Sparklers are second only to firecrackers in causing fireworks-related injuries.

There are several professional fireworks displays all over the Atlanta Metro area. A list will be up shortly.
