Even though the new law making texting while driving illegal has taken effect, Georgia State Patrol officers say they will give driver 30 days to get used to the change.

GSP Corporal Mark McDonough says troopers will have compassion for drivers until August 1.

After August 1st, adults should be prepared to pay $150.00 fine and get a point on their license. Teens under 18 are also prohibited from talking or texting on their cell phones while driving.
