On what should have been one of the happiest days of his life, it becomes one of the saddest

If  you have been following any of the media surrounding the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, then you know how important this day is to Former President Nelson Mandela. The movie “Invictus” told the tale of Mandela’s dream to bring his country together through soccer.

Unfortunately, the night before the games were to begin after attending a star studded concert to kick off the World Cup Mandela’s 13 year old great grand daughter was killed in a car accident. More in this report from the Associated Press.

Mandela missed the first game between South Africa and Mexico and may miss much of the rest of the World Cup.
