bilde Ollie Woodson of the Temptations dead at 58

Ali-Ollie Woodson, who led ‘The Temptations‘ in the 1980s and ’90s, at  Motown died on Sunday. He was 58-years-old. The singer was diagnosed with leukemia in 2008.

Woodson died in Southern California, after battling cancer according to hie wife, Juanita. Woodson sang lead on the song “Treat Her Like a Lady”

Although he was not an original member of the group, which had many changes since the 1960s,it was important for Woodson to keep ‘The Temptations‘active.

Woodson replaced Dennis Edwards, whose voice definedthe group during the 1970s. Woodson’s voice, like that of Edwards, helped the group notch R&B hits like “Treat her like a lady,” “Sail Away” and “Lady Soul,” from 1984 to 1986.

Here are some of the latest clips of Ollie from his website.

This is a another sad day for the Music Industry. This is very hard to believe. I had the Opportunity to meet Ali Woodson several years ago, he was a very very nice person, and a lot of fun. As far as I’m concerned, HE WAS A TEMPTATION. I never thought they could top David Ruffin, I was wrong. He was one of the BEST. My condolences to his family, and may he RIP.

I had the opportunity to record with Ali on his last and final recording. On April 9, 2010 we recorded a cover of “Your Precious Love”. I am honored and blessed to have worked with him. He was an awesome talent and a wonderful spirit. May he RIP.
